Ivan Podyomov

Principal oboe at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam. Professor at the Hochschule – Musik of Lucerne

Born in 1986 in Arkhangelsk, Russia, he commenced his musical education at the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow with Ivan Pushetchnikov. Since 2006 until 2011 Ivan has been studying with Maurice Bourgue at the Geneva Conservatory. During his studies in Geneva, Ivan Podyomov has won a number of important oboe competitions: ARD International Competition in Munich in 2011, Geneva Competition and Markneukirchen Competition in 2010, the “Sony” Oboe Competition in Karuizawa Japan in 2009, the Prague Spring International Competition in 2008.

These successes resulted numerous concerts at major venues around the world. In 2009 Ivan gave his debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. He has made solo appearances with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, the Chamber Orchestra of Geneva, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic, conducted by Manfred Honeck, Michael Sanderling, David Afkham and others.

Ivan has performed at the Lucerne Festival, Salzburg Festival, Prague Spring Festival, Festival of Radio France in Montpellier, Festival Mäcklenburg-Vorpommern. Among his recent chamber music partners were the Hagen Quartet, Lars Vogt, Sabine Meyer, Maurice Bourgue, Jacques Zoon, Leonardo García Alarcón and others.

Ivan Podyomov is a principal oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam since 2016. He held the same position earlier at the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Ivan has been frequently playing as the guest principal Oboist with the Orchestra Mozart Bologna, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under the baton of Bernard Haitink, Richardo Chailly and Claudio Abbado.

Ivan Podyomov teaches at the Hochschule Luzern Musik.

Maurice Bourgue, Ivan Podyomov, Stefan Schilli e Luca Vignali will hold one meeting each, with a 60 minutes lesson for each student.
